Stop the Madness

When I heard a liberal legislator on the radio this morning blathering on about how Detroit has done nothing to improve gas mileage in twenty years I knew it was coming from someone completely out of touch with reality.

...and BikeBubba beat me to it.

Furthermore, due to a host of other issues and market forces, less and less people are buying from "Detroit" any way, so it's a weak point in the first place. How many people do you know that own two American (assuming you can tell which are American) cars any more?

Me. With five kids, there isn't that much that the Japanese have historically made that meets my family's needs. It's changing, but they still don't make anything to match the Suburban.

me too...and for the space and passenger capacity the Suburban actually gets the best mileage among its competitors

Another reason I've historically ignored Asian brands; I sit 38" high. It took Toyota and Honda a while to figure out that some of us aren't 5'8 with a sitting height of 35".

That said, I've little doubt that their attempts in minivans & pickups have helped "nudge" Ford & GM along to make a better product, for which I'm grateful.
