Young Briony Tallis, deliberately fingers her older sister's (Keira Knightley) secret lover for a crime he didn't commit, setting into motion a sequence of events and consequences she may never be able to reverse.

Despite being nominated for several awards, Atonement never quite garnered my full attention. Although the story had potential, the execution left me unmoved. Certainly this picture was meant to be moving; and clever and artistic. It was none of the above, which made it seem longer than required and I usually like films like this.

Vanessa Redgrave was a nice touch at the end but even she couldn't quite get the film off the ground, as hard as she pulled on the yoke.
